ANTIGUA & BARBUDA: Bird retains leadership of ALP

Former prime minister Lester Bird retained the leadership of the main opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP), on 10 April. Bird defeated former planning minister Gaston Browne, the lone challenger for the post. After the count, Bird told party supporters that the victory was not for himself but for the entire ALP, which lost the last general elections after more than two decades in power.
